Welcome to Almaty,
the largest City in Kazakhstan with a population of 1, 5 Million People, located in the southern mountainous area of Tian-Shang with altitudes ranging up to 5000 meters. Until 1997 Almaty was the country’s capital city. Geographically speaking it is about 25km to Kirgizstan in the south, and 300km to China in the East.
The name ‘Almaty’ literally means ‘city of apple trees’, and due to its relatively mild climate, a wide range of apple trees are growing here. The area of Almaty furthermore is said to be the genetic home for many varieties of apples and the area is often visited by researchers and scientists from all around the world.
The Area of Kazakhstan in ‘Central-Asia’, that also can be referred to as the ‘Bridge between Asia and Europe’ has been a crossroad between West and East Eurasian people leading to the current high population genetic admixture and diversity. This is why you will see and meet allot of ‘mixed’ looking People with beautiful ‘Eurasian’ Looks.
Almaty has been a great Experience to me, and I will definitely come back here to visit the stunning Mountains, and especially to learn more about the People and their Cultural Heritage.
Untilverysoon!
